Thinking about identity is more relevant these days than it was fifty years ago. People are more dissociated from a sense of belonging, from other people, from themselves. Sociologists say that we, as a society, are going through identity crisis. Our children are growing up in the world filled homelessness, looking for a place of refuge, people emigrating for a better life or any life. As a consequence, they are surrounded by much more diverse social environment than their parents. I think it is important for our children to understand why this is happening.
The project I am proposing is an invitation for the children to think about their home as the place they belong to, identify themselves with. Through a variety of sculpting techniques, they can examine their emotions about the matter and express them visually.
